22 Cecelia W Middleton "Tiny" Hunter

Memorial
Birth: Jan. 21, 1919
New York
New York County (Manhattan)
New York, USA
Death: Oct. 29, 2012
Ocala
Marion County
Florida, USA

Cecelia W. Hunter, (formerly Cecelia Middleton), 93, of Rainbow Springs, Dunnellon, FL, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2012 at MRMC in Ocala.
She was born on January 21, 1919 in New York City.
Cecelia grew up and lived in Greenwich, CT where she enjoyed horseback riding, and sailing at Indian Harbor Yacht Club. She married William H. Middleton in 1942. He served in the Second Infantry Division for three years in Europe where he served as a forward artillery officer.
Cecelia is survived by her five children: Marily-Anne; William; John; Patricia; Elaine, plus seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family settled in Lake Forest, IL in 1960 where the children grew up. Cecelia was a member of The Church of the Holy Spirit in L.F., and was an avid golfer, gardener and sailor. At the age of 50 she took up riding again. In 1973, her first husband, William Middleton unexpectedly died. After a period of grieving, Tiny was blessed to find Thomas Hunter, Jr., a recent widower, while on a cruise. They found mutual interests, married, and had the most marvelous 14 years together. It was while married to Tom that Tiny renewed her interests in competitive horse showing.
She competed nationally in Dressage and Hunter Classes and was a well-known equestrian at AHSA horse-shows on the East Coast because of her age and accomplishments. In 1995, at the age of 74, she and her horse, "Tiny's Time", won the 1st Year Green Working Hunter Championship at the National Horse Show at Madison Square Garden in New York City, one of over 100 ribbons and trophies in her collection.
Cecelia and Tom traveled extensively until his passing.
Cecelia moved to Rainbow Springs in 2009 to enjoy the Florida weather. She was petite, (hence her nickname "Tiny") energetic, interested in everyone she met and enjoyed an active, wonderful, full life.
A memorial service is scheduled for 5:00 pm Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the Roberts Funeral Home, Dunnellon with visitation scheduled 4:00 to 5:00 pm. She will be inurned in the Family mausoleum at Rivers Bend Cemetery, Westerly, Rhode Island later this fall.
Online condolences may be offered at www.robertsofdunnellon.com
