Born January 21, 1908 in the city of Evanston, IL, she was the daughter of the late George D. Rankin of Old Saybrook and Margaret (Hallberg) Rankin of Chicago, IL and lived in West Hartford for most of her life. Prior to her retirement she was the President of the Marendaz Travel Agency in West Hartford. Miss Rankin was a graduate of Wheaton College, a member of the N.E. Women's Club, the Ruth Wyllis Chapter of the DAR and the Colonial Dames of America, a past president of the College Club of Hartford and a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, West Hartforord. She is survived by her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, George D. Rankin and Lawrence H. "Bud" Rankin, and a sister, Florence Julia Peabody Rankin. A memorial service will be held TODAY, April 27, at 11 a.m. in St. John's Episcopal Church, 679 Farmington Ave., West Hartford with the Rev. Joseph Pace officiating. Burial is private in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. There are no calling hours. The James T. Pratt Funeral Service, Wethersfield is in charge of arrangements.
